Eelco Dekker Architect is working on the international research project Facing Impact of the Second World War: Urban Design in Contemporary European Cities.

Partners:
Delft University of Technology, Cracow University of Technology, HAWK Hildesheim, Hans Citroen (Artist), in memoriam Barbara Starzynska (Architect), Various specialists.

The start of this collaboration was an intensive two-week workshop in Auschwitz/Oswiecim on the urban history and perspectives for the future of Auschwitz/Oswiecim in Poland. See website: urbanwarimpacts.
The workshop is financed through Erasmus Intensive Program 2009 and coordinated by the Faculty of Technology Cracow. More info here Auschwitz / Oswiecim Workshop (only in Dutch).

The second phase is the research, photographing, mapping and publishing of the Auschwitz/Oswiecim urban history. For this phase Eelco Dekker is awarded a grant by the FondsBKVB.
