Starring Trondheim! Harbor redevelopment.
Starring Trondheim! provides a planning tool for future development towards a new waterfront. Starting point for every development is a specific intervention in the existing situation: the ‘Stars’. The stars are always based on a cultural implementation in a specific building on a strategic location. These revitalized hotspots create opportunities and attract people. The Stars run ahead and clear the way for the redevelopment of the Nyhavna District and leave their track visible in the final result.

Close analysis of the current context and the connections to the surrounding landscape made it possible to embed the new urban plan fully in the existing urban fabric. This makes it possible for the city to carry out the redevelopment in phases.

The current and historical identity of the areas is used in the urban plan as a starting point. The identities are strengthened in the new plan and a distinct division between the small-scale housing of Svartlamoen area and the large-scale harbour buildings is the result. Responding to precise planning terms both areas will flourish in their own way.

A mix of culture, work and housing provides a qualitative and healthy urban environment for all the Trondheim residents with their different lifestyles.
